Our History

Est. 2011

Since these sessions began in 2011 we have built a community of bereaved dads who support each other, whether they attend regularly or not; for a short period or over some years.

We have recorded and written about our experiences and are now building a web based resource for our community and those who are not able to attend sessions. See our resources page HERE.

Based originally at Helen Douglas House Children’s Hospice (Oxford) we now meet at various venues throughout the Thames Valley. Sessions often focus on a topic, albeit not exclusive, on a topic chosen by those dads that attend – these have included the role of work; anger/ a displaced feeling, the place for belief; pain or comfort in anniversaries; managing relationships with partners and families and how we hold our child in our hearts. Dads that attend say that they value the chance to share their own experiences and know that they are not alone.
